A quick note about storage:
As long as the the fuel is kept in an air-tight container, it has an exceptionally long shelf life. It is when it is exposed to air that it will begin to turn to varnish. This is important for all you folks who are storing fuel. There are products like Sta-Bil that will allow longer storage of fuels, but those are for storage in vented (exposed to air) containers. Also, be cautious of fume buildup. The container will be pressurized (since it is not vented, duh), so use caution when opening/dispensing fuel. Let's not blind ourselves or have anything burn down. The overall mood here in Austin is grim. There are talks of setting up demonstrations calling on the Gov't to have oil released from the national reserve to slow if not reduce the price inflation. I know these are tense times, I hope we can all keep a level head.

Finally, some good advice...
Hey Torque, your friend sounds like a smart guy. I don't have the cash to be stockpiling in any meaningful way, but I'm happy to see someone with an eye to the future. We might be in for the long-haul here. It's not enough to simply aquire fuel, we should also consider to preserve it, and ourselves from it. Ha!It seems we are in the same city, so if you ever need a helping hand let me know.

Absolutely! We will have to share our information. I am curious about the protests and such. I doubt they will actually follow through. They might not have the gas to meet up!
